No Trade

lyrics by Ronny Criss                  Copyright 2005

Hit the road and I’m gone across the Midwestern plains

To the city in the hills where the music always plays

Greet the Sun with a kiss, Good Morning through the trees

With a window rolled down, the sent of spring on the breeze

Cutting through the stone, see the layers of the past

Turn the radio on, grab a CD from the back

And as the disc starts to play I’m thinking back on a time

When my head wasn’t as clear and my dreams weren’t in line

Spent my last days on the shoulders of a town

That gave me what I needed and raised me up from the ground

And I wouldn’t trade for another go around

Cause is all adds up to the man that I am now

If friendships can dissolve and brothers denounce

You never know which check you put your faith in is gonna bounce

Now a change is gonna come, it’s no different for anyone

But it’s the faith that you take in yourself that moves you along

Spent my last days on the shoulders of a town

That gave me what I needed and raised me up from the ground

And I wouldn’t trade for another go around

Cause is all adds up to the man that I am now

Cause is all adds up to the man that I am now

Cause is all adds up to the man that I am now
